Westfield Place on James Island

Charleston Style Houses in a Small Community

Westfield Place is made up of houses built in the Charleston low country style with large front porches, stylish shutters, and classic colors. Some are shot gun designs which was a very popular way to build homes back in the late 1700’s to early 1900’s in peninsular Charleston. Westfield Place homes have hardy plank siding, which is perfect for weather conditions in the South where real wood planks would swell, rot, and attract termites. Hardy plank (also called cement plank) looks like wood, and the homeowners can paint it whatever color they want, making it look more like a renovated 1800’s home from the streets of downtown Charleston.
