North Charleston Single Family Home Neighborhoods
Cedar Grove is one of the nicest communities in North Charleston. Most of the homes have brick exteriors and over 3,000 square feet. The lots are also quite large, averaging around a third of an acre. A few of these houses even back up to the marsh. Cedar Grove is one of only a handful of marshfront neighborhoods in North Charleston. Prices start around $300K.
Colony North is a large neighborhood, and it's divided into several subsections. Most of these subsections have newer homes that were built after 2000, but there is one good subsection with older brick homes. Home prices in Colony North range from the mid $100's to the low $200's.
Coosaw Creek Country Club, is made up of only single family homes, which range in price from about $300,000 to almost $1,000,000. Coosaw Creek is a gated neighborhood and has amenities including a golf course, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a club house, and a play park. Many of these homes back up to the golf course. Since this is the only golfing community in North Charleston, Coosaw Creek gets a lot of interest from home buyers. This neighborhood is located off Dorchester Road.
Indigo Palms is one of the newest communities in North Charleston. Buyers tend to really like the home designs, and some of the homes have colorful Charleston exteriors. Although Indigo Palms is newer, it doesn't have quite the cookie cutter look that many new home neighborhoods are accused of having - where all of the homes look the same. The builders have done a good job of varying the exteriors of the homes so that they look nice, but different enough from each other. Also, Indigo Palms has a pool in the community.
Northwood Estates is made up of single family homes, with prices starting in the mid $100's and going up to the mid $200's. Northwood Estates is located just off Interstate 26 in North Charleston, SC, and the amenities for this neighborhood include a swimming pool and a play park.
Oak Terrace Preserve is another new neighborhood in North Charleston. The community was started in 2008, and many of their homes are still under construction. Buyers tend to really like these floor plans and the bungalow designs. However, some of the homes are smaller than average for new construction. You'll see a fairly large range in the square footage of these homes, so keep that in mind when you're looking through the MLS listings.
Park Circle is one of the most sought after communities in North Charleston. It's an up and coming neighborhood, and there are a lot of homes being renovated in it. This area has gotten a lot of attention in the past few years from various Charleston magazines because of all the changes that have taken place in it. Park Circle has a great little downtown area that's been refurbished. You'll find some really good restaurants, bars, etc. in this downtown section, which is within walking distance of most of the Park Circle homes. Park Circle is located near North Charleston's recreation complex, which has a playground, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a walking track.
Red Oak is a single family home community in North Charleston, SC. Most of these homes have two stories, but there is one floorplan (the Quincy) that is one story. Red Oak is a very small neighborhood - all of the homes are located on one street, Red Oak Drive, which has a cul-de-sac. Red Oak was built by Beazer Homes. It's located off Otranto Road in North Charleston, so it has a close proximity to the Air Force Base, Charleston Southern University, and Wannamaker Park.
University Park is made up of single family homes and town homes. Prices for town houses start in the low $100's, while single family homes start in the mid $100's. The homes in University Park are relatively new - most were built after 2006.
Whitehall is a fairly large neighborhood, so there are always homes for sale in it. You'll find homes built in the 1990's as well as homes built in the past few years. The Refuge at Whitehall is the nicest section of the neighborhood, and it has some of the nicest homes in all of North Charleston. Some of the homes in this section have expansive views of the marsh and great low country styles. House prices in Whitehall start under $200K and go up to more than $600K, depending on which section you're considering.
Windsor Hill has a mix of houses. Some were built only in the past few years, while others were built in the 1980s. Some of the older ones need updating, but the work needed is usually just cosmetic. Of the North Charleston neighborhoods we've listed, Windsor Hill has some of the most affordable houses, with prices starting in the low $100's.
