House prices in West Ashley vary drastically according to location. The homes that are closer to downtown Charleston fetch the highest prices, with homes getting more affordable as you get further from the city. West Ashley real estate is divided into two sections. The more expensive section is inside Hwy 526, and these homes are anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes from downtown. For the most part, these homes have brick exteriors and relatively large lots. There are also quite a few that overlook the Ashley River. Homes in this older section of West Ashley are in high demand, and you'll find many that have been renovated.
If you're willing to live further out, you'll be able to get more house for the money outside of Hwy 526. Most of these neighborhoods are newer and have amenities such as pools and tennis courts. You'll even find one golf course community - Shadowmoss Plantation. These houses are anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes from downtown. Ashland Plantation is located near Ashley Towne Landing in West Ashley, SC. Ashland Plantation features only single family homes, which range in price from about $400,000 to well over $1 million. The homes on the Ashley River have good marsh views, and some have private docks. All residents in Ashland Plantation, though, can use the community's dock and boat ramp on the Ashley River.
Ashley Harbor is a single family home neighborhood between Ashley Hall Plantation Road and Hwy 526. Home prices start around $500,000 and go up to about $1.5 million. Some of these West Ashley homes have views of the marsh. Buyers generally like the traditional designs and the brick exteriors of these homes. Amenities in Ashley Harbor include tennis courts, dock facilities, boat ramp, and walking trails.
Bolton's Landing is a Beazer new home community in West Ashley, SC. Most of these homes have two or three stories, but there is one floor plan (the Wagner) that has a one story option. Most of the single family homes in Shadowmoss cost anywhere from the high $100's to the high $600's.
