Spring is here, so let’s get outside and enjoy our favorite time of year in Charleston!

  • Plow to Chow Cooking Demonstrations: On Saturday, April 13 local restaurants and farmers will offer cooking demonstrations during the Charleston Farmers Market. The Charleston Farmers Market is one of our favorite weekly events. It generally runs until late fall and features fresh local produce, flowers, homemade goods, art, jewelry, and food vendors. This particular cooking demonstration will be free, and you’ll find many other free events and entertainment at the farmers market throughout the year. Marion Square is located at the Calhoun and King Street intersection in Downtown Charleston.
  • Founders' Day: Also on Saturday, April 13 from 10 AM to 5 PM, celebrate the 343rd anniversary of the founding of Charleston. This living history day will feature cannon fire, historians in period costumes at a colonial encampment, traditional English meals cooked over open fires, and more. Also, the Charleston Food Truck Federation will be in the parking lot selling food throughout the day. Price is $10/adult, $3.75/child. Charles Towne Landing (pictured) is located at 1500 Old Towne Road in West Ashley.
  • Sea and Sand Festival: This two day festival will run Saturday, April 13 from 10 AM to 5 PM and also Sunday, April 14, from 8 AM to 6 PM. This family and dog friendly festival will feature a street party on Saturday and the Tides Kickoff Classic Surf Competition, a concert, and sand sculpting contest on Sunday. Events will focus on Center Street at Folly Beach.
  • Pet Fest: Also on April 13 and 14, this festival will take place from 11 AM to 5 PM. Pet organizations and businesses will showcase their offerings, and rescue groups will be on hand with adoptable pets. Attendees can also enjoy live music, food, and drinks. Leashed pets are welcome. Price is $5, and this is located at the Mt. Pleasant Palmetto Islands County Park on 444 Needlerush Parkway.
