We’ve specialized in Mt. Pleasant real estate for many years now. This suburb of Charleston sees a huge demand from home buyers – especially from buyers relocating to the area. All it takes is one afternoon of driving through Mt. Pleasant for buyers to fall in love with the huge selection of shopping and restaurants, the meticulously maintained commercial centers, the master planned neighborhoods with full amenities, and the great schools (which are as pleasing in person as they are in the Charleston school ranking lists). Mt. Pleasant is known for its upscale feel and its new-ness in general since it’s been mostly developed in the past twenty years.

Mt. Pleasant is pricier compared to some of the other areas in Charleston County (for example, West Ashley or North Charleston). But – simply put – it can afford to be pricier with the consistent demand from buyers. The most affordable options are condos and townhouses. You’ll find a good selection of condos for sale in Mt. Pleasant in the $125K to $225K price range in neighborhoods like Park West, Dunes West, and Seaside Farms. Townhouses in Mt. Pleasant generally cost more because they offer more privacy, fewer shared walls with the neighbors, and most have fenced backyards. In the $150-300K range, buyers tend to really like Hamlin Plantation, Dunes West, The Village at Carol Oaks, and Charleston National.

Buyers looking for single family homes in Mt. Pleasant will find starter houses in the $200-300K range in Linnen Place, Laurel Grove, Lieben Park, Carol Oaks, and Park West. By the way, all five of these neighborhoods in Mt. Pleasant offer newer homes that were built in the past eight years (and some of these are brand new construction). In prices $300-500K, be sure to check out Brickyard Plantation, Dunes West, and Hamlin Plantation. For $500K plus, you’ll be able to find a dream home, and some of the best neighborhoods to start looking will be I’on, Dunes West, Old Village, and Ravens Run.

Mt. Pleasant has some of the best public schools in all of Charleston. If you’re looking for a good resource for comparing schools, GreatSchools.com is the best site we’ve found. Mt. Pleasant has five elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school. Wando High has over 3,000 students in attendance and is known not only for its academics but also for a fantastic athletic program.

Often when we talk to home buyers, they tell us that they want to have plenty of shopping, entertainment, and restaurant options within a ten minute drive of their neighborhood. In other words, they want to live in an area that is self-sufficient so that they don’t have to drive to a nearby suburb in order to find things to do. Mt. Pleasant appeals to these buyers because it has great, upscale shopping centers, two movie theaters, and tons of locally owned as well as chain restaurants.

If Mt. Pleasant sounds like it matches your criteria for places to live in Charleston, contact us to help you get started with your home search!
