White Point on James Island, SC

A Small Community Located on Charleston Harbor

White Point has some of the best views of Downtown Charleston’s Battery, the Ravenel Bridge, and the Charleston Harbor. Since White Point is a very small community with only one main street, White Point Boulevard, there are usually only one or two homes for sale at any given time. It is one of the closest James Island neighborhoods to Downtown Charleston - all you have to do is take a right onto Harbor View Road, and drive about a mile to the James Island Connector ramp (very convenient for commuting)! Most of the homes in White Point were built from the early 1980’s to the late 1990’s, but you'll find some newer construction homes on the prized waterfront lots. Most are brick ranch or traditional style homes that have been well maintained or have been renovated recently. The streetscape trees and shrubs are mature, making the community look established. The most sought after homes overlook the harbor and fetch multi-million prices (some of the highest on the island). There are only three other neighborhoods on James Island with these great harbor views: Stiles Point Plantation, Eastwood, and Clearview.

White Point houses for sale typically range from 3 to 5 bedrooms and 2,500 to 6,000 square feet. The custom built homes were built by many different builders at different times, so they offer a range of designs. The lot/block setup for this neighborhood sets it directly behind another nice, older neighborhood called Lawton Bluff. The schools are highly rated: Harbor View Elementary, Camp Road Middle, and James Island High Charter School. Just across Harbor View Road is a Harris Teeter grocery store, a few local restaurants, a convenience store, and a gas station. Folly Beach is only 10-15 minutes away, and by taking back roads you can cut out a lot of traffic in the summer months. Most people who purchase in this neighborhood are looking for a home in a great public school district, with the best views of the Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge, and a private dock that has true deep water access. They want to be as close as possible to Downtown, but they prefer to live outside of the city so that they can have a spacious yard, as well.
