Scott’s Mill is a good neighborhood to consider for buyers in the under $160K price range. Most of these houses were built between 2001 and 2006, range from 1200 to 2000 square feet, and have 3 to 4 bedrooms. Scotts Mill is a great place to start your home search if you want a 1 story floor plan with no stairs since there are usually a few homes for sale at any given time that meet these criteria. The slab foundations make it so that your front door and front porch are on the ground level. Most of these houses have 1 or 2 car attached garages.
Part of the affordability in Scott’s Mill is due to the relatively small lot sizes (about 0.15 to 0.20 acre). Also, since the neighborhood has no amenities, the HOA fees are some of the lowest that you’ll find in Summerville. These houses are usually zoned for Summerville High School. However, the elementary and middle schools vary depending on the address (Reeves and Flowertown for the elementary schools, and Dubose and Alston for the middle). All of these are part of the Dorchester County School District 2, which is one of the best in the Charleston area. However, if you prefer one set of schools over the other, please let us know so that we can confirm this before you buy a home in Scott’s Mill!
