What are the best tours in Charleston South Carolina? Whether you’re entertaining guests or looking for a new perspective on the city, these 3 options are definitely worth checking out:

The tours highlight the most famous monuments, public buildings, and historic homes of downtown Charleston, reflecting more than 300 years of history. Most tours start from Anson Street, which is right off the Market in Downtown Charleston. Also because carriages are given different routes within the city, no 2 tours are exactly the same. The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) starts this Friday, February 14th and runs until Sunday. Since its debut in 1983, it’s grown to an attendance of 40,000 people and has become one of Charleston’s favorite annual festivals. SEWE celebrates wildlife through raising preservation funds, honoring nature experts, educating both children and adults on the need to protect our environment, and sharing artwork that helps us appreciate the outdoors. This year’s guests include conservationist Jack Hanna, Chef Nathan Thurston, and members of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Events range from children’s puppet shows to fine art exhibits/auctions to birds of prey flight demos to sporting dog competitions. You can see the full event schedule and purchase

Aiken-Rhett House

This home looks much like it did when it was built over 150 years ago. Instead of being restored, it has been preserved - most of the features, such as wallpaper and decor, have been untouched since around the time the home was built. It housed a former governor of South Carolina (William Aiken, Jr.), though he was not the original owner - he inherited the property. Located at 48 Elizabeth Street (where it intersects with Judith Street) in Downtown Charleston.

Built in 1825, this mansion is a great example of the Greek Revival style homes that are popular in downtown Charleston. And, since it's located on the Battery, it has great views of the Charleston Harbor. This is one of the few homes on the Battery that is open to the public. Located at 21 East Battery. www.edmondstonalston.com/
