You might have noticed that The Keadle Group loves Charleston County Parks! As Gold Pass Members and frequent visitors of the parks, we also include lots of their events and festivals on our social media posts, blogs, and weekly home listing updates. Whether you're considering relocating to Mount Pleasant or already live in the area and are looking for things to do, you must check out the Palmetto Islands County Park location off Longpoint Road!

This county park offers 943 acres of preserved wetlands, woodlands, and ponds for residents to enjoy. Here are some of the special features included in admission:

  • Paved nature trails for walking, jogging, and biking
  • Crabbing dock with kayak launch
  • A large playground that accommodates a wide age range for kids
  • An observation tower that stands 50 feet tall, offering unobstructed marsh views
  • A gated dog park with large and small dog designations (small dogs are allowed in both)
  • Picnic areas (some of these are covered and offer basic outdoor grills)
  • Grassy, open fields perfect for frisbee or other intramural games
  • Designated horse shoe pits
  • Fully sanded court for volleyball

You'll find more features that are available for an additional fee:

  • Splash Island Waterpark which is usually open from the end of May to August
  • Bike rentals
  • Pedaling boat rentals
  • Shelters that can be reserved for private parties (some of these make great kids’ birthday party spaces)

From a cost perspective, the Gold Pass pays for itself several times over in our house hold, and we consider it one of the best buys you can find in Charleston. Members can enjoy free admission to any of the park locations (this includes free parking at its beach locations which feature showers), a pass for 1 car into the Holiday Festival of Lights, and other discounts throughout the year. We highly recommend taking advantage of our great park system if you love the outdoors, if you have kids who love to play, or if you're looking for a new spot to exercise. You can learn more about the locations and current offerings on the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission website!
