Country Club is an older, established neighborhood that is adjacent to the Country Club of Charleston. Most of the homes were built between the 1950’s and the 1970’s. Some have been recently renovated, while others have hardly changed since the time they were built. Lot sizes go up to a little more than 3/4 acre, which is a lot of land for James Island since the island is small and mostly developed. This neighborhood has an ideal location, and home buyers are willing to pay a lot of money to live in the Country Club. The Country Club of Charleston is the only golf course community on James Island. It is an exclusive, private course which overlooks the Wappoo Creek, a large body of water that leads t to the Charleston Harbor in only a few minutes. Going downtown for shopping, dinner, drinks, or a show is a breeze from this location, as well. Country Club is zoned for Harborview Elementary, Fort Johnson Middle, and James Island Charter High, which are some of the top rated schools in James Island and in the tri-county area. Buyers who seek out this neighborhood are usually quite familiar with James Island and with Charleston in general. They do not mind paying a premium to be located in this exclusive golf community that is so close to downtown Charleston and Folly Beach. These folks also do not mind spending a little time and money bringing their personal touches to an older home with a larger lot. It may be the perfect location for boaters who want riverfront access to one of the most convenient waterways in Charleston.
