Hidden Lakes is one of the few walkable neighborhoods in Mt. Pleasant. In a suburb known for its large scale commercial development and four to six lane roads, this walkability is an increasingly popular selling point for buyers wanting to walk to get groceries, eat dinner, watch a movie, or simply have an evening out. Your options include Seaside Farms Shopping Center and also Towne Centre, so these are some of the broadest entertainment options in Mount Pleasant. Its location off Rifle Range Road also gives Hidden Lakes residents an easy biking proximity to the beach just across the Isle of Palms Connector.

Most of the homes for sale in Hidden Lakes were built from around 1990 to 2000, so keep in mind that they might need some cosmetic updates compared to the newer homes that Mt. Pleasant is known for. However, the central location and the sheer number of lakefront homes make Hidden Lakes enviable among many buyers. You’ll find only 4 streets in the community (Waterfront Drive, Sandy Shore Court, Hidden Lakes Drive, and Topsail Court), and these border two sizable community lakes. A frequent complaint we’ve heard from buyers over the years is a concern for young kids’ safety with the retention walls. However, other buyers love the lakes’ designs and enjoy kayaking or paddle boarding in them. Like many factors in real estate, this is something you should see for yourself before making a decision!

Hidden Lakes is known for its wonderful location. You can walk to the Seaside Farms Shopping Center or to the Mount Pleasant Towne Centre outdoor mall. Inside Seaside Farms is a Target, grocery store, boutique shops, a Japanese steakhouse, and several other great lunch spots. The Mount Pleasant Towne Centre has lots of restaurants, Belk, Lowes, Barnes and Noble, Bed Bath and Beyond, various clothing stores, and a movie theater. Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island beaches are a 3 minute drive, or you could bike or take a long jog. Also, Hidden Lakes is only about 10-15 minutes to downtown Charleston. It is located off Rifle Range Road just before the Isle of Palms Connector. Hidden Lakes has an annual HOA fee of approximately $895, and it includes amenities such as a club house, pool, basketball court, tennis courts, an outdoor storage area for boats with trailers, and a children's play area. Most buyers love the exterior of these homes because they have great curb appeal due to the mature vegetation and the traditional style brick homes.

Some of these interiors are updated, but mostly they still have the original selections from the early 1990's to 2000. Some people prefer a turn-key home where they will not have to renovate or replace cabinets, cut out walls to open up the floor plan, etc. (Hamlin Plantation - just down the road - gives this neighborhood a lot of competition in the higher price ranges because its homes are newer.) Hidden Lakes is made up of only 4 streets that wrap around the two community lakes. These lakes have cement walls which some buyers have commented are unattractive and a hazard for small children, while others love the design of the lakes. The homes are 3-5 bedroom with 2,000 to 4,200 square feet. Hidden Lakes is zoned for Mammie Whitesides Elementary, Laing Middle, and Wando High School. All of these schools are highly ranked in Charleston County. If you are looking for a traditional brick home with a view, close to the heart of Mt. Pleasant, and located in a highly ranking school district, you may want to consider viewing homes in Hidden Lakes.
