This neighborhood design is ideal for buyers looking for less through traffic or the paved-and-ready play space for kids that makes cul de sacs so desirable.

The homes that tend to sell the quickest in Laurel Grove are the ones that back up to the woods/pond and have garages (even if it’s just a 1 car). The affordability of this neighborhood makes it a great option for starter homes, so it’s important to keep resale and overall value in mind if you’re purchasing with plans to resell later. The Market at Oakland across from Highway 17 is just a few minutes’ drive, and the intersection on Lexington Drive is very convenient for commuting. The neighborhood HOA fee is $375 per year, and there are no amenities.

Laurel Grove is located off Highway 17 just past the intersection with Highway 41. The Market at Oakland is within walking or biking distance from the community. Walmart, Chick-fil-A, East Bay Deli, and many more shops are in this very popular shopping center. Laurel Grove homes were all built in 2005 and 2006, and they have large porches and vinyl exteriors. Separate garages with driveway strips and sidewalks provide charming curb appeal that you would expect from a Lowcountry style neighborhood. The affordability of Laurel Grove is certainly a draw among home buyers - along with the Southern charm.

Home sizes range from about 1,300 to 1,900 square feet. Floor plans include both one and two story options with 3 bedrooms and 2 or 2.5 baths. The main drawback to this community is the lot sizes. Most of the lots are only 0.10 to 0.20 acre, which helps make these homes so affordable. (The average lot size for newer construction is a little under ¼ of an acre in Mt. Pleasant). A few of the lots back up to woods which gives privacy and good views. Homeowners’ Association (HOA) fees are $375 per year, which includes only the common area maintenance. If you are interested in swimming, the Mount Pleasant Recreation Center is inside Park West subdivision just north of Laurel Grove on Hwy 17. Or, if golf is more your style, there are 3 courses within 5 minutes of the neighborhood. People who purchase a home in Laurel Grove are usually searching for a newer home that is affordable, in a highly ranked school district, and still want to be within 30 minutes to downtown and 15 minutes to the beaches. Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island beaches are the closest ones. Also, the Mount Pleasant Towne Center is just a few minutes away. It offers top name shops like Banana Republic and Ann Taylor, department stores such as Belk, Barnes and Noble, Lowes, a nice movie theater, and several restaurants all in an outdoor mall type of setting.
