Summers Corner is located in the East Edisto Region where conservancy efforts have placed 53,000 acres of land under a density restriction to ensure the rural feel that makes this area so unique. This massive region spans between the Ashley and Edisto Rivers. Although Summers Corner feels tucked away from Charleston and Summerville, it is conveniently located just a short drive to the places that residents frequent most. Historic Downtown Summerville is just a 10 minute drive where you’ll find numerous shops and restaurants (plus the movie theater at Azalea Square shopping center). The International Airport is 30 minutes away, and Historic Downtown Charleston is 35 minutes. An hour’s drive will take you to 3 of Charleston’s best beaches.

Older kids living in Summers Corner can walk or bike to the new Sand Hill Elementary School located off the community’s Gnarly Oak Lane. Gregg Middle is the zoned middle school which is just an 8 minute drive. Rollings Middle School of the Arts is currently constructing its new location in Summers Corner (adjacent to Sand Hill). When you drive through the community, be sure to note the 1,000 seat Summers Corner Performing Arts Center being built for the school district and community at large. Admission to Rollings is based on auditions and is a great option for kids interested in the visual arts, strings, band, dance, or theater. Ashley Ridge High School tends to be the most preferred of the highly ranked Dorchester Two School District, so parents tend to be very pleased with the schools that Summers Corner is zoned for.

For home buyers who love the outdoors, you'll find a nice range of options without having to leave the community. You can join your neighbor volunteers who complete training through the Clemson Extension Master Gardener Program. They maintain the demonstration gardens outside of the Homestead (the Summers Corner HOA building) and also offer gardening assistance to area residents. The farmers market also takes place in this section the last Tuesday of every month. Outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy the canoe and kayak launch at the 95 acre Buffalo Lake. This park is one of many located throughout Summers Corner. In fact, the community has been designed that homes are located no more than a 5 minute walk from green spaces (similar to Daniel Island or I’On in Mount Pleasant). The neighborhood pool is also a great place to enjoy spending time outside.
