Country Club is an established neighborhood that is adjacent to the Country Club of Charleston. Most of the homes were built between the 1950's and the 1970's. Some have been recently renovated, while others have hardly changed since the time they were built. Lot sizes go up to a little more than 3/4 acre, which is a lot of land for James Island since the island is small and mostly developed. The Country Club of Charleston is the only golf course community on James Island. It is an exclusive, private course which overlooks the Wappoo Creek, a large body of water that flows to the Charleston Harbor.
This neighborhood has an ideal location, and home buyers are willing to pay a higher price to live here. Folly Beach is about a 10 minute drive, and Downtown Charleston is less than 5 minutes away. The neighborhood is convenient to Publix and Harris Teeter on James Island as well as Earthfare in West Ashley. The Terrace Theater is convenient for movies since it's just a 5 minute drive. You'll find great local restaurants and shops whether you want to stay on James Island or venture to West Ashley or Downtown just 5 minutes away.
