Popular James Island Condo Communities
Mira Vista and The Peninsula (see below) are the closest condo communities to downtown Charleston. In fact, you'll see both of these developments as you drive over the James Island Connector. Mira Vista is the one on the right as you're coming from downtown, and its colorful and architecturally pleasing buildings are hard to miss. Although the location is unbeatable, Mira Vista has some of the highest regime fees on James Island. Depending on the floor plan you choose, fees range from $230 to $512 per month.
The Peninsula is located on your left as you're coming over the James Island Connector from downtown. The Peninsula were originally built as apartments in 2001, but the buildings were converted to condos a few years later. The Peninsula condo regime fees are also quite steep, with prices ranging from about $236 to $475 per month.
Point James has some of the most affordable condos on James Island. The regime fees are also lower, with monthly rates starting around $195 and going up to $340. Point James is also one of the older condo developments in the area, since it was built around 1974.
The Regatta is the newest condo development on James Island. Built in 2006, this community also has some of the nicest amenities. Monthly regime fees range from $213 to $420. If you're looking for a condo with lots of upgrades, The Regatta would be one of the best places on this list to start your search. Most of these units have stainless steel appliances, quartz counters, nine foot smooth ceilings, and crown moulding.
The Retreat is also a newer condo community, and these were built from 2003 to 2005. There are three floor plans to choose from, and regime fee prices depend on the floor plan. The St. Martin is $240 per month; the St. Croix is $273; and the St. Thomas is $268. The Retreat only has two and three bedroom floor plans.
Rivers Point is another option for affordable condos on James Island. Regime fees start around $195 and go up to just over $250. Buyers like that these condo buildings are mostly brick, since most James Island condos have either vinyl or hardy plank siding. Rivers Point is an older community - it was built from 1978 to 1980. However, you can usually find renovated condos in this neighborhood at any given time.
