Carnes Crossroads Homes and Builders: Summerville, SC

Carnes Crossroads is a 2,300 acre new construction community located between Summerville and Goose Creek. The plans for this mixed use neighborhood include 4 miles of commercial frontage on North Main Street and St. James Avenue. Amenities include a 25-meter competitive pool with splash area (located in St. Thomas Park), a playground and pavilion, and hundreds of acres of parks and green spaces. Right now, only houses and townhouses are being built, but condos are planned for future development.

There have been many different builders in this community, so if you're looking at pre-owned homes you'll find a wide range of floor plans and finishes (including one story layouts, Charleston style houses with double front porches, or options with a downstairs full guest suite for multigenerational families). Currently, the only active builder is Lennar.

Carnes Crossroads is zoned for these public schools in the Berkeley County District: Cane Bay Elementary (opened in 2009), Cane Bay Middle (2012), and Cane Bay High (2008). For parents looking for private schools, Northwood Academy's new Upper School (grades 6 through 12) opened its new facility in 2016, and it's conveniently located within Carnes Crossroads. Its Lower School (serving kids age kindergarten through 5th grade) opened in 2017.

Because this area has seen such rapid growth, the zoned schools are beyond capacity and the district has implemented a capacity restriction for Cane Bay Elementary and Middle Schools.
