Home Buyers choose Mount Pleasant, SC because of the great public school systems, the upscale atmosphere, the many shops and restaurants, the master planned neighborhoods with amenities, and the close proximity to beaches.

Most houses in Mount Pleasant are within a 15 minute drive to the nearest beaches, the Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island. The majority of newer communities are located outside the IOP Connector where homes offer more square footage for the price. For example Dunes West, Rivertowne, Park West, and Carolina Park are must-see neighborhoods if you're looking for 2,500 sq ft or larger and are still very close to the beaches, shopping, and dining.

Belle Hall features popular Charleston style houses. Although lot sizes are smaller than average for Mt. Pleasant, Belle Hall has good amenities including tennis courts, two pools, club house, volleyball court, and children's play park. Brickyard Plantation is a marshfront community with deep water access. Amenities include a community boat ramp, dock facilities, pool, tennis courts, fitness area, club house, and play park. Buyers looking for brick homes in Mt. Pleasant generally put this neighborhood at the top of their list.

Carol Oaks is one of the most affordable neighborhoods in Mount Pleasant and appeals to buyers wanting a smaller, more intimate community.

Carolina Park is a 1,700 acre community featuring new construction homes by some of the top residential builders such as David Weekley and CalAtlantic. Carolina Park amenities include a zero entry pool that is Junior Olympic size, kids' splash area, tennis courts, play park, and walking trails.

Chadbury Village is a starter home neighborhood in Mount Pleasant, SC that is made up of only single family homes. This community is relatively small compared to other Mount Pleasant neighborhoods (made up of only 3 streets), and its only amenity is a play park.

Charleston National is the most affordable golf community in Mount Pleasant. The main drawback is its location (a good 25 minute drive from downtown Charleston). However, it has nice amenities like tennis courts, a club house, pool, fitness area, and play park.

Copahee Landing is a small Mount Pleasant community with just 26 houses built by Eastwood. Buyers looking for affordability will get a little more for their money with this location past Wando High.

Darrell Creek appeals to buyers wanting large lot sizes and a feeling of privacy. Some of the homes in this Mount Pleasant marshfront neighborhood have great tidal creek views. Darrell Creek has a dock and pool for its residents. This neighborhood is also located further out in Mt. Pleasant (about 30 minutes to downtown).

Dunes West is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Mt. Pleasant. It has some of the nicest amenities in the tri-county area including an Arthur Hills designed golf course, three swimming pools, tennis courts, club house, community dock, boat ramp, boat storage, play park, fitness center, and walking trails. It's also a very large neighborhood which has been divided into many subsections for condos, townhouses, and single family homes.

Grassy Creek is another marshfront community in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and its amenities include a park and dock facilities. Home buyers generally like Grassy Creek because it is smaller than some of the other Mount Pleasant neighborhoods. Also, Grassy Creek has mature trees, relatively large lot sizes, and custom built homes.

Hamlin Plantation is extremely popular among Mt. Pleasant home buyers for its low country style homes. Hamlin Plantation has a full range of amenities including a pool with splash area, 3 tennis courts, playground, walking trails, boat storage, and a beautiful plantation-style club house. This community has single family homes in addition to town homes and is located off Rifle Range Road.

Hidden Lakes is within walking distance to the Towne Center outdoor shopping mall since it's located where Hwy 17 meets Hwy 517. Hidden Lakes amenities include a club house, a pool, a basketball court, tennis courts, a separate parking area for boats, and a children's play area.

Hobcaw Creek Plantation is conveniently located south of the Isle of Palms Connector. It offers easy access to Interstate 526, and it’s only about a 10 minute drive to downtown and the beaches. Community amenities include pool, tennis, boat ramp, and dock facilities.

Horlbeck Creek is another one of Mount Pleasant's marshfront communities. Although many of these houses have private docks, there is also a community dock. Most Horlbeck Creek homes were built in the mid to late 1990s, and it's located off Hwy 41.

I'On, along with Dunes West (see above), are two of the most sought after neighbrhoods in Mt. Pleasant. Because of this high demand, they're also two of the most expensive communities. I'On is known for its distinct Charleston style homes. It was designed so that walking down one of its streets would feel like walking in historic downtown Charleston. So, if you're looking for classic Charleston style but prefer newer homes, I'On is an excellent choice.

Ivy Hall has some of the least expensive houses in Mt. Pleasant. This community is located off Lexington Street (tucked away from Hwy 17), and most homes were built in the late 1990s.

Laurel Grove appeals to buyers wanting affordability and a good location since this neighborhood is located across from Oakland Shopping Center on Hwy 17.

Longpoint's biggest perk is that residents can walk to the Palmetto Islands County Park, which offers over 900 acres of nature trails, playground, volleyball, water park, dog park, and fishing dock. Longpoint has one of the lowest HOA dues in Mt. Pleasant, but it still has good amenities like a swimming pool, tennis courts, club house, play park, and basketball court.

Midtown is within biking distance to the beach at Isle of Palms and also Mt. Pleasant Towne Centre. This is a very small new community built by one of Charleston's best builders, John Wieland.

Old Village overlooks the Charleston Harbor and is located directly southeast of Patriots Point. This is one of the few Mount Pleasant neighborhoods with Charleston Harbor views, so it sees a very high demand from home buyers. In addition to waterfront homes, Old Village also has a mix of new construction homes, historic homes dating to the 1800's, and fixer uppers located in the revitalized section that is several blocks away from the water.

Oyster Point is a new construction community in Mt. Pleasant located off Six Mile Road. It features houses and townhouses built by DR Horton.

Park West, the largest neighborhood in all of Charleston, feels almost like a town unto itself. It has schools, a grocery store, doctors' offices, and more within the neighborhood's entrance. Some home buyers feel overwhelmed when they first enter Park West - and it's certainly not for everyone. But, if you're looking for a large neighborhood with good amenities and a little bit of everything, Park West would be the best place to start your home search.

Pinckney Place houses are newer and feature hardy plank siding, ten foot ceilings, large front porches, and great low country designs. Pinckney Place is off Whipple Road, which is about halfway between Longpoint and Mathis Ferry Roads.

Planter's Pointe's oldest homes date back to the mid 1990's, but you'll find many that were built in the early 2000's. Owners in the Indigo Chase section can join the amenities in Rivertowne Country Club.

Porchers Preserve is a Pulte Homes community that was developed in 2015-2016. With a pool, club house, and play park, this is a good community for buyers wanting newer homes in a smaller scale neighborhood.

Ravens Run is ideal for buyers wanting convenient access for private planes. Ravens Run amenities include a crabbing dock, swimming pool, tennis courts, a racquetball court, boat storage, as well as a 2,400 foot private landing air strip for small aircrafts! This gated community has larger than average lots for Mt. Pleasant (most are over an acre), and many of these houses overlook the community's lake.

Rice Fields at Bulls Bay is located in the rural town of Awendaw about 20 minutes from Towne Centre shopping. This gated community appeals to buyers looking for acre plus sized lots within a short drive of Mt. Pleasant.

Rivertowne has two main sections. Rivertowne on the Wando is a riverfront community that has charming homes. It has smaller lots than average for Mt. Pleasant, so it's great for buyers wanting a low maintenance yard. Rivertowne Country Club is a golfing community that boasts a gorgeous club house, plus pools, tennis, and a playground. Its golf course was designed by Arnold Palmer.

Scott's Creek is a newer community off Rifle Range Road in Mt. Pleasant, SC. It is very close to the beaches - the Sullivan's Island bridge is within a few minutes' drive. Amenities include a 6 acre community park, walking trails, and a pond. This community is made up of about 70 custom-built homes.

Seaside Farms is also located off Rifle Range Road, and it's ideal for buyers wanting to be able to walk to shopping and restaurants. Amenities include swimming pool, club house, play park, fitness center, and walking trails.

Sewee Preserve offers large, estate-sized lots (most are over 2 acres). Sewee Preserve is a gated community with about 400 acres of preserved land for the approximate 30 homeowners. Because of this high ratio of land to residents, Sewee Preserve has a very secluded feel to it than most of the other Mt. Pleasant communities in this price range.

Snee Farm is one of the more affordable golfing communities in Mount Pleasant. Most of these homes were built in the 1970's and 1980's, so some of them need cosmetic updating. Amenities include tennis courts, swimming pool, and club house. Snee Farm is located off Highway 17 just past Mount Pleasant Towne Center.

Stratton by the Sound features new construction houses built by Ashton Woods. This Lowcountry styled community has elevated floor plans, and you'll find a community pool, cabana, and playground among its amenities.

Sweetgrass appeals to buyers looking for affordable waterfront homes in Mt. Pleasant. Although the homes are not marshfront, they still offer good lake views. The stop light at the entrance on Rifle Range provides easy driving access to the beach, and there are great shopping and restaurant options within walking distance.

Tidal Walk is a DR Horton community located close to Interstate 526, making it an ideal location for commuters. Buyers will also find a pool and club house.

Tupelo offers some of Mt. Pleasant's most affordable new homes, and the 2 main sections are Tupelo Church Lane and Tupelo Forest. The main drawback is that it's located quite far out in Mount Pleasant, but this is a tradeoff for getting a larger and newer home for the money.

Wakendaw Lakes is an established neighborhood off Mathis Ferry Road in Mount Pleasant, SC. Many of these houses overlook the 25-acre lake (which is the only amenity), and some of the marshfront ones overlook Hobcaw Creek. Wakendaw Lakes was developed from the 1970s to the 1990s.
