mount pleasant neighborhoods near towne centre shopping restaurants

We’ve seen a surge in demand from home buyers who want to live within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, movies, and other entertainment. Walkability can be a tough feature to find in Charleston outside of Downtown, but Mt. Pleasant is perhaps the most walkable of Charleston’s suburbs.

Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is the biggest hub for entertainment, plus its central location makes it the target area for home buyers.

We’ve included below the best neighborhoods for living within walking/biking distance of Towne Centre:

Seaside Farms: Walking Score of 5/5

Seaside Farms is usually buyers’ top pick among communities near Towne Centre. You’ll find a large selection of single family houses in addition to luxury townhomes in the Marais subsection and condos in Windward Pointe and Long Grove. This range of property types brings with it a range of prices, so it appeals to all types of buyers. Our clients tend to love that this community is adjacent to The Shoppes at Seaside Farms, which adds a grocery store, Target, and more shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Located at the corner of the Isle of Palms Connector and Rifle Range Road, Seaside Farms is less than a 5 minute drive from the beach. Biking to the beach is also a convenient option.

Sweetgrass: Walking Score of 5/5

Sweetgrass and Seaside Farms are located across from each other on Rifle Range Road. Sweetgrass is on the same side of the street as Towne Centre, and residents can access its parking lot from the neighborhood boat storage section. It’s also just across the intersection from The Shoppes at Seaside Farms. House prices are a little more affordable, and buyers tend to like that so many of these properties overlook the lakes.

Condos at The Meridian: Walking Score of 4/5

The Meridian is a condo community with entrances off Hwy 17 (just past IOP Connector) and Sweetgrass Basket Parkway (which intersects the IOP Connector and becomes Hungry Neck Boulevard). Biking would be more preferable to walking to entertainment, the affordability and amenities here are certainly worth considering for price ranges under $300K.

Snee Farm: Walking Score of 3/5

Snee Farm community is slightly north of Towne Centre, across from Hwy 17. In a suburb like Mount Pleasant that is known for newer developments, Snee Farm stands out as one of the few established neighborhoods with amenities. Its central location is ideal for commuters as well. For buyers looking for older homes in need of some renovations, this is a good option.

Condos and Townhouses in Montclair: Walking Score of 3/5

Montclair is located directly across from Towne Centre on Hwy 17, and the cross walk offers a safe and convenient access. Most of these homes were built in the mid 1980’s, and you’ll find a range of updates. Some have been fully renovated, while others have original finishes (but are otherwise move in ready). This condo community is gated, and a crosswalk conveniently leads directly into the Towne Centre main entrance.
