Lawton Harbor is a neighborhood that’s tucked away on Affirmation Blvd (located off one of James Island’s main thoroughfares, Harborview Road). There is just 1 stoplight between this community and Downtown Charleston which makes the commute about 5 minutes unless you’re traveling during rush hours (when it could take up to 15 minutes). Folly Beach is not far, either - just 10 minutes by car, and you are on the sand! Lawton Harbor is not a one-way-in-and-out subdivision but connects to Harbor Woods on the backside and Affirmation Oaks on the front side. This is a good perk for those who love to walk or jog because there is plenty of space to exercise without having to get on a main road. Houses in Lawton Harbor were built from 2000 to 2004, and there was only one builder in this community of 70 or so homes (providing good consistency among the streets). The exteriors of these homes usually appeal to James Island buyers because the vinyl accents are made to look like painted cedar shake, giving a cottage feel.

Lawton Harbor on James Island is popular among buyers because it offers some of the most affordable, newer homes zoned for Stiles Point Elementary. This school zoning ranks highly in Charleston County, and Stiles Point is one of the two most sought after elementary schools on the island. (Camp Road Middle and James Island Charter High are attended by all island residents.)

Some of the Lawton Harbor homes for sale are upgraded on the interior, but a vast majority of these have builder grade materials. After closing, many buyers opt to change out cosmetic items such as lighting, flooring, counters, etc. Lot sizes are about 0.14 to 0.20 acres, which is typical for James Island homes built after 2000. The homes that back up to woods are the most sought after among buyers because they offer privacy and a nice buffer. Floor plans typically include 3 to 4 bedrooms and at least 2 full baths.
